Book Covers

Hi again! it's been a little while since I blogged about my journey to being published. Things have been crazy! Myself, husband and 3 kids all got Covid in December and were down for the count for the entire month. Thankfully we are all recovered and not experiencing any lingering effects. To those of you who have had the virus I sympathize, and to those of you who have not, I hope you never have to roll those dice.

Anyway, if you read my newsletter this month then you know that I have also been a busy bee and have already finished writing book 2 and it is in the drafting stage! Book one will soon be ready for ARC readers and if you have signed up to be part of my ARC team I will be sending out those electronic copies I'm hoping by Mid March. If you haven't applied for an Advanced Reader Copy but would like to, you can find the form in the Contact and Forms section of my website authorjaymephelps.com.

Also, I have been lucky enough to work with the talented minds at DC cover creations to create my official cover for the Devil's Intern and I can't tell you enough what a pleasure it has been! I will be doing a cover reveal on all of my social media platforms for that soon as well. I can not wait to share it with you!

Though I have to admit, it's been hard work and a little nerve wracking having to choose the perfect design for a cover that will be printed and distributed to all of my family, friends, and followers. It's especially hard when you as the author hadn't really thought a lot about what your cover might look like in the first place.

So my advice to those of you who are writing your own first novel and thinking about everything that goes into publishing it, take some time to really sit and think about an image that really embodies your story. Also research what best selling covers in your genre look like and take some clues from them too. You will thank me later, I promise ;)
